Origami Valentines Rose InstructionsDifficulty Rating - ![]() Fold the sheet of square origami paper in half to make a rectangle and then in half again to make a square. ![]() Lay the paper down with the open sides of the square on the left and the top, fold a small turn up along the bottom edge, then unfold the turn up. ![]() Now make a turn up along the right hand side, the same width as the turn up along the bottom, then unfold. ![]() In the corner there the two turn up fold lines meet, fold the corner tip up along the diagonal. ![]() Open out all of the folds that you have made in the paper. These are the roses guidelines. Fold the paper in half to make a rectangle with the coloured sides on the paper on the inside. ![]() Push the centre of the fold down with a finger whilst gently pushing the both ends of the fold in towards the middle and a small square will form. ![]() Fold the small square in half diagonally. Flaps will form at the front and back. Fold these down in the way that they are forming. ![]() Refold the new flaps both forwards and backwards to ensure that they have left good fold marks. And unfold the paper again so that the paper is a flat square agian, but the straight folds remain. Turn the whole thing over. Feel for the flaps of paper and score with your thumbnail through the paper to create tramlines. ![]() You can see a small square in the middle of the paper. Fold the corner of the paper in diagonally to create fold marks of a larger square around the smaller one, allow these new folds to extend to the edge of the paper. Undo these new four folds. ![]() Forming the Rose. Make sure the first flaps that were made are standing up proud and gently push the flaps in towards the middle so that the paper naturally starts to roll up into a flower shape. You may need to push in two of the flaps and then work on the other two flaps and keep alternating a bit until it starts to take form. ![]() Then allow the sides to come down and you roll the petals around. Turn the work over and cradle in one hand as you shape with the other hand. ![]() Whilst it is upside down, pinch out the diagonal folds that were made and allow the rolling to follow these diagonal lines. ![]() Roll the rose neatly up. ![]() Then gently allow the rose to unravel a little. ![]() Take each of the four corners of the paper in turn and fold them upwards so that the tip of the corner is just a bit higher then the top fold of the petal to its right. Keeping hold of the first corner and petal, work on the second corner and as before fold the corner up so that it’s tip is just higher then the petal. Do the same with the third and forth corners; each corner and petal holding up the corner and petal before it. ![]() Squeeze all of the folds flat on the underside of the rose and turn in and unsightly jagged bits. ![]() Turn the rose the right way up and turn down the angular corners of the paper that are sticking up and turn down some edges of the rolled up petals. ![]() Click Here to go Back to Valentine Origami Ideas |
